Another pretty big day! First things first: I got out the PS Vita and finished Welcome Park. It's a super easy tutorial/introduction-style game. But I do want to play some exclusives, like Touch My Katamari. Unfortunately, even though the PlayStation Store is still available, games no longer get any sales. Full price for all of them would add up way too quickly, and it's not like I don't have a huge backlog across all platforms already... Then again, just a few wouldn't hurt, right? 😅
I made a couple of posts about the PS Vita over on Bluesky.
I also got out my old drawing tablet. It's an old Wacom something-or-other. Not for digital art though, I'm not an artist in any sense of the word! But for osu! Used to be obsessed with that game and was relatively okay at it, but it's been well over a decade and it's not like I got any younger. But I really do miss playing rhythm games. Perhaps it's time I get DJMAX RESPECT and SUPERBEAT: XONiC on PS5? (Those trophy lists are hellish though...)
I also got out my old PDP Afterglow (Series X|S) controller, intended for PC. Burning through the backlog will be easier with a controller, I think... Currently working on Goat Simulator on Steam, and I personally feel like that game works better with a controller.
I brought my PS4 games back out, too. Diablo 3: Eternal Collection, Risen, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, The Elder Scrolls: Online and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. I have to finish those (or at least start them) before I buy any more games... These are all hefty RPGs, so I should be set for a while! Especially if I'm going for the platinums on those. Won't have to buy another game for the rest of the year! 😆
And I got out the old crimson DS Lite, too. Need to back up my files and (finally) go through those games. Now, that system has a backlog! I believe I've got well over 100; a lifetime of DS games, basically.
And I'm moving my files over from my old main machine to the new desktop. Vintage Story is a whopping 4.7 GB after compression! Larger than all the other files combined. It's mostly mods and a couple of worlds. Dozens and dozens of mods...
And finally, I got out my old SATA-to-USB caddy, so I can go through my backups and pick out what to keep (and what to delete) since at least one of the drives is actively failing. Thousands of bad sectors and growing... Yikes! Can't exactly upgrade/replace them right now either, since storage prices are also rapidly increasing.
Oh, and I did some peripheral management. Re-routing cables, plugging in chargers, et cetera. Switched this keyboard [Ajazz AK832 X NACODEX] from 2.4 GHz back to wired. Turns out I can't get into the bios without a wired keyboard. (Guess how I found out? 😭)
I was going to switch this wireless Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed to my ROG Gladius II Origin, since I much prefer how that mouse looks and feels. (And it has replaceable switches!) Alas, the micro-USB cable is too short. And even though I've seemingly got every cable in the world, I don't have a longer micro USB cable...
Today isn't over yet though. About to go grocery shopping, and pretty excited about that. Then, BBQ time! Hopefully I can snag some food pictures; they'll be part of tomorrow's post!
And lastly, I'm installing some programs on the main machine that I quote-unquote can't live without:
- JamesDSP
And I'm curious about Waterfox, which is still around!
Plus a few games as well:
- osu!
- Luanti (formerly Minetest)
- Xonotic
- Dolphin
No podcasts or music today, but it's been a productive day either way! (And still not over yet! 😄)
