Gosh, my stomach has been truly awful today! Maybe because I'm tired, or perhaps because I ate something bad, but it made today way worse than it could've (and should've) been. But I suppose I can't complain too much!
I'm also now available on more platforms!
@SysadminRiley@mastodon.social on Mastodon.
SysadminRiley on Threads.
SysadminRiley on Instagram.
That's a lot of places to keep up with, but I'll try my best!
So, onto the notes:
- Chrome adds vertical tabs and a new immersive reading mode!
- Amazon Leo sounds really interesting, and very promising for those of us who live in more rural areas! Supposedly coming out mid-2026, so we'll see how it goes!
- Dazzle camouflage is neat! Hadn't heard of the term before.
- The Elements Book: A Visual Encyclopedia of the Periodic Table by DK is now on my To-Read list! I was never good at chemistry, so this'd probably be a good place to (re-)start.
- Steam Link is now available on the Apple Vision Pro! I thought that was neat, even though I have neither an Apple Vision Pro nor internet good enough to support in-home streaming.
- Meta released their AI called Muse Spark. It's available on iOS and Android, for what it's worth. (And not available for my Chromebook.)
- There's an Amazon Basics Touchpad that I'm very tempted to get! (Although it supposedly doesn't work on Linux... One way to find out for sure!)
- Beyond excited for Anbernic's (upcoming) RG Rotate! Looks like a perfect little handheld for me, and it might make a decent little MP3/Podcast player, too! Hopefully it releases soon, I can't wait!
And the thoughts:
- I'm struggling with the "BFF" achievement in Goat Simulator. I think I'll be able to get it this weekend, but it's pretty annoying. If anyone (in the future) needs help with this, add me on Steam!
- I want to install the Edge browser on Linux (Fedora in this case), but I really don't want to add the .RPM... The Drop feature is so handy though, and I wish Firefox or Chrome had something similar. (Not just sending tabs over. It sends tabs in a way that works more reliably for multiple tabs. It also allows "messaging" yourself, and sending files. Quite convenient for those of us with many devices!)
- Neither Arc nor Dia work on Linux from what I can find. A shame, because I really want to try them.
- Blip isn't out (yet?) for Linux either. I love LocalSend, but I'd like it to work across networks.
- I want to figure out how to run the same executable (either native Linux binary, or a .exe through Proton) simultaneously. This should be possible, but I haven't had any luck in the past. Another project for this weekend!
- I'd like to go to SCALE someday. Maybe next year?
- I got really nostalgic for Mirror's Edge. Might get it during the Steam Summer Sale.
- Been absolutely obsessed with the song Titanium by Mikkerj lately! So raw, oddly melancholic, and weirdly comforting? It's been making my drives a little more hectic, but in a good way. (The whole album is gold too, for what it's worth!) And naturally it's also on YouTube Music, or wherever else you get your music.
- Speaking of mid-2010s games, I've also been really wanting to revisit Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4. Not sure whether I'll get it on PS5 or Steam, especially considering I own most of the series on Xbox. (But my 360 is toast, and my One might not survive a playthrough given it's on its last legs.)
- And one more game: Baby Steps! Was so excited for this to launch, and then just... forgot about it. It looks goofy and infuriating, but most of all: fun!
- I'm looking for shorter podcasts (<60 minutes per episode) about video games. I'll put them in a future post once I find some!
Seems like I ran out of time to go over all my notes today! So there'll be quite a few more tomorrow! 😄
